Opportunities of the calibre of this role in Urban Design do not arise every day. This role will suit an Urban Designer ready to stake out their ground in Urban Design and raise their own personal profile in the profession.

We seek someone either at Director level already who is looking for a new challenge, or someone at Associate/Associate Director level that is restricted in promotion possibilities in their current company.

In this newly created role you will have the scope to develop a client base and procure new projects for the company, to recruit and lead your own team on urban design projects, and to be involved in the marketing of the practice generally. Reporting to the Managing Director of the NSW practice, you will be managing the overall daily running of this department.

You will be either an Architect with 10 years experience in Urban Design in Australia or a Masters qualified Urban Designer with at least 5 years urban design experience in Australia. Your career will have covered sustainable planning and design, masterplanning, transport infrastructure design, urban design studies, guidelines and controls preparation, public space design and specialist consultancy advice.

Part of your role will be the preparation of project proposals and bids, fee setting, developing contacts in government and private sectors, and registration with government bodies for urban design projects. Additionally, you will be a hands-on designer with projects to design or oversee.
